About This Project
My wife and I have been learning Icelandic for several years now, ever since we moved to Iceland. Throughout our journey, we've taken various courses and even private lessons. Each time we started something new, we discovered amazing learning resources we had never heard of before. The frustrating part? There was no way to find these resources when we were actually searching for them online. We'd stumble upon them by chance through word of mouth, course recommendations, or conversations with other learners.
The final straw came about a month ago during one of our private lessons. We were discussing a specific learning resource that could help us, but we simply couldn't find it online despite extensive searching. That's when we realized: if we're having this problem, countless other Icelandic learners must be facing the same frustration.
Why This Matters
Everyone has different learning styles. Some people thrive with structured textbooks, others prefer immersive media, and some need the accountability of in-person classes. But how can you choose the best approach for you if you don't know what options exist?
That's why we created Where to Learn Icelandic — a comprehensive, curated directory of all the learning resources available on the internet. Our goal is simple: make Icelandic learning more accessible by giving learners an overview of their options so they can find the approach that suits them best.
We've organized everything into clear categories — classes and courses, study materials, and media resources. This isn't about monetization or affiliate links. It's about helping fellow learners discover the wealth of resources that already exist. The Icelandic learning community has created so many wonderful tools — they just need to be easier to find.

Learning Icelandic is challenging, but with the right resources and determination, it's absolutely achievable. We hope this site helps you on your journey, just as these resources have helped us on ours.
Gangi þér vel! (Good luck to you!)
